Since I was young, I've always been interested in the crafts and construction. Playing with Lego, K'Nex, Lincoln Logs, Capsella, and model airplanes I was fascinated with the world of fabrication. Though my social skills suffered, I gladly locked my…

We've recently seen a huge number of non-professional jewellers in the marketplace. By non-professional I mean those who don't depend on it for a living, or who are doing it as a hobby or a leisure-time activity. On Etsy alone there are over 62,000…

While I was studying jewellery at George Brown and living in Toronto, MAG was important in connecting me with jewellers and future jewellers. Probably the most important purpose it served was to show that there was a life after being a student. It c…

The Staffordshire Hoard

Just in case you haven't yet seen this incredible find!
Sara C

"This hoard is perhaps the most important collection of Anglo-Saxon objects found in England. It compares and perhaps exceeds those objects found at Sutton Hoo. Originally discovered by metal detectorist Terry Herbert in July 2009 and subsequently excavated by Birmingham University Archaeology Unit and Staffordshire County Council."

From site: The first CopyCamp was held in September 2006. We billed it as An unconference for artists about the Internet and the challenge to copyright. Here's what we said then:

CopyCamp is a place to meet people making art and making waves, an opportunity to discover how the Internet can work for artists and fans, and a chance to debate the value(s) of copyright wi… Continue

MAG Program: MAGnet eCommerce Simplified, Craft + Technology

Hi everyone, thanks to those who attended online and offline, it was an interesting challenge to get this particular event to work. If anyone has any questions and is a paid MAG member I would be happy to go over what was presented.

Photos are up from yesterday and archived video is working pretty well in the end. Considering the streaming service was free, we used a web cam and we had limited bandwidth at the venue I was happy with our maiden web voyage.

Thursday we are holding a web committe… Continue

Hi Sara,
That seemed like a very clever fix. I was able to update my profile! Thanks!

On the profile settings, it asks the question "for non-individuals, are you a...gallery, organization, school, guild" but it won't let me update my profile without clicking on one of these options. But I am not a non-individual, and am none of these things...
I also noticed that jewellers who have recently joined have HAD to click on one of these options.
Just wanted to let you know that was happening.

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for your message. I was not sure where to post news. (It would be so nice to have a section for member's news in each profile!!!). Also, may I ask you why you deleted it without telling me first- or why you did'nt transfer it directly to the forum? Now if I want to post it I have to re-write it and find the pic again.... oh well, beside that I think the site is quite nice!
All the best, Claudio

I really enjoyed the workshop and has opened up my eyes to newer possibilities that suit my needs.

I have yet to check out shopify and Canadian Jeweller's site, but am excited to do so and am sure I will have lots of questions afterwards :D Also, will be telling all my fellow students about the eCommerce workshop tomorrow.
