Submission Requirements for MAG Members

Exhibition: ARTA Gallery, Distillery District, Oct 31st to
Nov 19th, 2009
Reception: Nov 7th, 5:00 to 7:00
Here in, METAL ARTS GUILD OF CANADA, shall be know as
MAG
1. Entrants must be MAG members in good standing.
Become a member here The submitted design(s) must be original,
fabricated metal works reflecting the theme of the Exhibition;
works must have been completed after May 2009.
2. Entrants may submit up to two (2) entries.
3. Entries must be available for exhibition from Oct 9th to
Nov 21st, 2009.
4. You may register on-line at Show 2009.
Each entry must be accompanied with the title of the piece, the
title of the “Possible Future Option” and an artist’s statement,
150 words or less, explaining how the work reflects the theme of
the exhibition. The statement should be clearly typewritten on a
single sheet of paper that does not bear the entrants name or any
other identifying marks. Entrants will also include an electronic
version of the statement on a CD, (Rich Text or Word).
5. Artists whose pieces are accepted for the exhibition
grant permission for their work to be photographed. By submitting
work, the artist grants to the Metal Arts Guild of Canada
the right to use such photographs for the purposes of promoting and
publicizing the Exhibition and the Metal Arts Guild of
Canada.
6. All designs must be reasonably priced and available for
sale. In the event of sales, the Metal Arts Guild of Canada
shall be entitled to a commission of 50%, (20% for MAG and 30% for
Arta Gallery) of the retail price of each piece sold, all
prices exclusive of sales taxes. MAG shall pay the artist
for their sales within 30 days of the close of the Exhibition.
7. While on the gallery’s premises, MAG will NOT bear
any responsibility for damage to the work or in the event of loss
or theft; the artist shall be responsible to insure all works
themselves.
Fee: $35.00 payable on-line via Pay Pal, cash or cheque made
payable to MAG if submissions are hand-delivered. The fee is
non-refundable. Do not send cash in the mail.
The opening reception is a costume party and participants and
guests are invited to dress up in their favourite possible
future.
Packaging Instructions:
Entries must be packed in a box with the artist’s contact
information, artist’s statement about the work, CD of statement,
entry fee or receipt if paid on-line and sufficient postage for
return shipping. (Canada Post’s Website www.canadapost.ca offers shipping
prices based on size, weight and distance. You may send stamps,
pre-paid postage envelopes or cheques for return postage.) The box
must be strong enough to withstand repeated mailings. Please
include return shipping label. MAG accepts no responsibility
for work damaged, improperly packed or lost during shipping to or
from MAG. Insure as required. Arrangements are required for
return hand pick up.
Deadlines:
Mailed or courier for delivery on or before Oct 9th, 2009.
MAG is not responsible for late deliveries, please allow for
shipping and delivery delays.
