Nuit Blanche

“Craftsmanship names an enduring, basic human impulse, the desire to do a job well for its own sake.”1

The work of one’s hand can reveal much about the soul. It takes 10 000 hours of practice to become an expert – at anything. Roughly, 3 hours a day, 20 hours a week, for 10 years of your life. Your brain requires this length of time to assimilate & consolidate and process information. Dedication, perseverance, precision, accuracy, sensitivity, dexterity, agility are all necessary for mastering a craft.

The Metal Arts Guild of Canada will be presenting a collection of 10 000 metal objects symbolizing the combined 10 years of dedication it takes to create one craftsman.   We would like you to submit your scrap metal objects or anything made of metal.

You do not need to be a metalsmith to submit or a member of the guild. Ideal pieces are your practice plates, maquettes, and samples.
