Bob McDonald

The host of Quirks & Quarks is Bob McDonald. One of Canada's best-known science journalists, Bob has been presenting the program since 1992. His extensive background in science broadcasting includes numerous science documentaries for CBC Radio's Ideas series and location stories and investigative reports for CBC's As It Happens and Morningside. Bob McDonald has also produced, written and hosted over one hundred educational videos, written for the Globe and Mail, and before joining Quirks & Quarks he was the host of CBC Televison's children's science program, Wonderstruck. Fall 2000 saw the release of Bob's latest book, Measuring the Earth with a Stick: Science as I’ve Seen it. Bob has shared in the dozens of prizes and awards bestowed upon Quirks & Quarks. He was also personally honoured for his contributions to the public awareness of science with the 2001 Michael Smith Award for Science Promotion, from NSERC, and the 2002 Sandford Fleming Medal from The Royal Canadian Institute. Sandra Noble Goss

Sandra Noble Goss has been a full-time professional jewellery and metal artist since graduating from George Brown College’s jewellery program in Toronto in 1973. She began her jewellery studies at Hornsey College of Art in London, England and had previously received a BA from York University in Toronto. Since 1973 she has been a partner of Goss Design Studio with her husband and fellow metalsmith, Andrew Goss. They share an attic studio located in their 100+ year old home in Owen Sound. Sandra sells her work through her own studio, through craft galleries and shops across Canada. Throughout her career she has exhibited widely in jewellery and craft exhibitions and juried shows receiving numerous awards over the years, including the Steel Trophy, Best in Show at MAG's 200O "Behind Glass" juried Show. She enjoyed giving a home to the trophy while the show travelled. She has participated in MAG shows since a student at George Brown and remembers MAG meetings at the Manor Road Church. Teaching part-time in the Jewellery + Metals Program at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario allows her to mentor young jewellers. This September she has a show of etched wall panels with hidden jewellery at Lafreniere & Pai Gallery in Ottawa.
