Submission deadline 9 July 2012:  INFLUX Jewellery Gallery invites artists to interpret the theme of “INVENTIVE ILLUSIONS” for our summer exhibition of contemporary art jewellery. Can you create a piece of wearable jewellery that deceives the eyes? Can you create a piece that looks like one object but is in fact, something else? Can you fool the viewer into thinking your work is something other than it appears to be? If so, Influx encourages you to create a new jewellery illusion for this exhibition.  

 Guidelines and Requirements:

  1. A maximum of three pieces of wearable art jewellery to be submitted by the artist.   
  2. The work must be related to the topic and focus of the show or it will not be accepted.
  3. A completed application form must accompany the submission.
  4. Artist Statement (300 words max).
  5. Artist biography (300 words max).
  6. One page CV.
  7. Images of exhibition work (300 dpi, 4 x 6 JP images) must accompany the submission. Please include a detailed image listing with your submission.
  8. If you are not one of our regular gallery artists, please email Influx and request a ‘Guest Artist Exhibition Agreement’.
  9. All work submitted must have been made in the last year and will be for sale at Canadian retail prices.
  10. When sending merchandise via post/courier, please package carefully and make sure items are secure in a box.  Please also ensure that packages require a signature upon delivery and that package contents are insured.
  11. All submission documentation may be used for promotional purposes by INFLUX Jewellery Gallery.
  12. INFLUX will not accept work that is not packaged safely.
  13. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

JOYA – Barcelona Contemporary Jewellery Week is the main international contemporary jewellery event in Spain. In its fourth edition, JOYA joins different entities and associations related to signature jewellery bringing a unique oportunity for students, new designers and established creators to exhibit and sell their collections. 

JOYA  is a local and international exhibition with extensive press coverage opened for both professionals working on contemporary jewellery and also the general public. 

The event will take place 

October the 

 11th, 12th and 13th 2012 in 

Convent dels Àngels (FAD), located in Barcelona, Spain. 

The same week, you will also have the chance to attend Espaijoia , a Jewelry Mediterranean Meeting  that will be held in Drassanes Reials in Barcelona the 12th to 15th October 2012  as well as the Shopping Day (Saturday, October the 13th), an event celebrated in the main commercial streets in the very center of the city where all the main jewellery boutiques are located.

The Brampton Arts Council is calling for artists and artisans at our annual outdoor show and market Art in the Open, a feature of the local Farmers’ Market. PART-TIME and FULL-TIME vendor positions are available for creators of hand-crafted, original works. Art in the Open takes place every Saturday, 7 am – 1 pm in downtown Brampton on the north-east corner of Main & Queen from June to October. 11th international juried enamel exhibition sponsored by the Northern California Enamel Guild and hosted by the Richmond Art Center, Richmond, CA

Artists do not have to be a member of NCEG to submit entries for jurying. Eligibility of the artist's work includes:

* Enamel (vitreous glass fired to metal) must be the focus of
the work;

* Only original work produced within the last two years
(2010-2011) is eligible; student work is encouraged;

* Only accepted work that is shown in the submitted digital
images will be exhibited;

Each entrant can submit one, two, or three pieces for the single entry fee of $25 for NCEG members or $35 for non-members.

Jurors:

Merry Lee Rae - lives and works in Freedom, CA. She sees herself as
a dedicated romantic. Her cloisonné jewelry is her voice.

Martha Banyas - has worked primarily in enamel since 1972. She was a full time faculty member at Mt. Hood Community College and has taught enamel workshops in the U.S., Canada , and Japan. Since 1973, she has participated in numerous one-woman and group exhibitions worldwide. She has traveled extensively in Asia and Eastern Europe since 1981. She has
been a full-time studio artist since 2005.

Nancy Servis - is a curator and currently is the Executive Director of the Richmond Art Center, Richmond, CA. She has taught at the University of California, Davis; the California College of the Arts, Oakland, CA; and Solano College in California.

The Elora Sculpture Project ~ 2012

Deadline to Apply: February 27, 2012
The Elora Sculpture Project is pleased to announce Year Two of its Sculpture for Outdoor Sites Program. Located in the Elora Downtown core, the Elora Sculpture Project has created 9 Exhibition Sculpture Areas that will serve as an outdoor venue for artists to experiment with public space, urban context, materials and scale.
The Elora Sculpture Project is a civic initiative, managed by the Elora Business Improvement Association. A volunteer Art Advisory Board and Jury serving a one-year term, has been appointed by the Elora BIA to select exhibitions. The Elora Sculpture Project Finalist Sculptures will be available for sale. 10’s of thousands of tourists visit Elora between May & October.
This is an opportunity to expose (and sell) your sculpture directly to an art & culture audience. On site at each (of the 5) Sculpture Area will be a Mounting Plaque that will include the following information: Title of Work, Artist Name, Medium, Origin, Price, Contact information. The Elora Sculpture Project does not take a commission on sales.

Call for Proposals for a new sculpture for the Haliburton Sculpture Forest

Theme: Avian Fauna - Birds of the Haliburton Highlands

Deadline for submissions February 29, 2012

Canadian artists are invited to submit proposals for a new sculpture for the Haliburton Sculpture Forest located in Glebe Park in the village of Haliburton, Ontario.

The Haliburton Sculpture Forest is looking for a work of artistic/design excellence and durability that suits the natural attributes of the Haliburton Sculpture Forest and addresses the theme of Avian Fauna - birds of Haliburton Highlands region.   

The winning artist will be responsible for the cost of materials and transporting the sculpture to the site.

The sculpture may be an existing work or a new work. The Sculpture Forest will pay up to $9,500 (plus HST if applicable) for the work.

Sculpture is to be installed by June 15, 2012.  

Proposals must include a description of the sculpture, detailed drawings or a maquette (if it is a proposed new work), photographs (if it is an existing work), description of materials and installation method and five pictures of other recent work. Details are provided in the terms of reference.
