Metal Arts Guild of Canada

Connect - Communicate - Create

The Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) 2013 Conference is officially scheduled to take place in Toronto, Canada in May 2013. The conference will be co-hosted by George Brown College and Harbourfront Centre. The conference co-chairs are Paul McClure, professor at George Brown College, and Melanie Egan, Head of Craft Department at Harbourfront Centre. The specific dates in May 2013 and a specific conference theme have yet to be established.

It is hoped that a variety of organisations, institutions and individuals will volunteer their participation to make this conference as inclusive, diverse, exciting and original as the Canadian jewellery and metalsmithing community is. Volunteers are needed to organise related exhibitions and events, organise pre-conference workshops, and help with conference planning and implementation.

It has been over twenty five years (Toronto, 1985) since the SNAG conference was held outside the United States. In addition to serving the entire SNAG membership, the Toronto 2013 conference will provide a platform for promoting Canadian jewellery and metalsmithing to a local, national and international audience.

To express your interest in becoming involved. Please contact Paul McClure at pmcclure@georgebrown.ca or Melanie Egan at rmegan@harbourfrontcentre.com

Hey Paul I was recently in Calgary and had dinner with Jackie Anderson one evening. She expressed an interest in participating the the SNAG 2013 conference, specifically on the program committee. If you have some space on the PC and her geographic location isn't a problem let her know. ;-) Ken

Paul...I've been meaning to contact you and have you add my name to the list of volunteers for the Snag conference in 2013. I don't know how I can assist from a distance....I live in Thunder Bay, but would love to help out in T.O. during the conference....Linda Brown

Hi Linda,
Thanks for the offer to volunteer for the conference. I will add your name to our volunteer list. At next meeting we will discuss how people out of Toronto area can participate and I or the volunteer coordinator will get back to you in a few months. In the meantime would you please send me an email to pmcclure@georgebrown.ca with "SNAG volunteer" in the subject line - thanks again.
Paul
