Looking For Tools and Displays
I'm looking for quite a few things to help me hit the ground running when I graduate in April. In the way of tools, I'm particularly in need of a small anvil, a vise, hammers (forging, chasing, etc.) stakes and chasing tools/punches.
I'm also on the lookout for a white craft fair tent (one of the EZ Up ones, preferably) as well as glass displays that are portable.

Hi Miranda,
Atlas Machinery on Queen Street has low priced hammers. You can get them and modify the shapes by grinding them. They also have O-1 tool steel rods you can buy in 36" lengths to make your own chasing tools; diameters 3/16" and 1/4" are good to have. Cut them with a heck saw by using 12-32 bi-metal blades. Get a few files while you are there to file the steel rods to shapes. Finishing with emery like you do with all other types of metal. Heat treatment is not always necessary; if you do need them to be hard, heat then quench in oil, temper to straw colour. They also have small anvils and vises.
