Call for Entry: 12th Biennial International Juried Enamel Exhibition

THE 12TH BIENNIAL INTERNATIONAL JURIED ENAMEL EXHIBITION
and
THE 8TH INTERNATIONAL JURIED STUDENT ENAMEL EXHIBITION
July 22- August 22, 2009

Both exhibitions will be at the Oakland Art Gallery in Oakland, California
For more information and to apply online, visit: www.enamelistsociety.org

Deadline: January 16, 2009.

"Surfacing" is a word that describes the goal of every enamelist--to create a glassy surface with enamel. The extensively varied results derive from the fact that there are numerous ways to accomplish that goal.

Historically, enamel has been used to produce a shiny, glossy surface, but in recent years, enamelists, especially in Europe, have begun to challenge that idea. Enamel can be rough, textured, dull and shiny, all on the same work. This movement has taken enamel beyond its surface to expose its depth, versatility, and its relationship to the supporting metal.

The 12th Biennial International Juried Enamel Exhibition and 8th International Juried Student Enamel Exhibition, sponsored by The Enamelist Society, will highlight the best in contemporary enamels produced in the last 2 years. The International Juried Exhibition will showcase the work of enamelists that demonstrates these aesthetic trends and technical expertise. The Student Exhibition, which is always very inspiring, will feature the work of students in accredited degree programs throughout the world.

Opening Night of the conference will include a gallery reception for the shows and the presentation of awards for work of exceptional merit in both juried exhibitions.

The International Student Exhibition

Due to the fact that the calendar, shipping requirements, agreement and other specifics are the same for both exhibitions, students should use the same entry form and mark the “student” category on the form. Maria Phillips will jury this exhibition. You must provide the name of the school that you attend as well as the name of the supervising faculty.

How To Apply

Submissions for these exhibitions will be digital images only. Images must be in jpeg format and saved at 72 dpi. The longest dimension of each image must be between 650 and 700 pixels in length. Name files with last name and entry number (ex.: Smith1.jpg). Detail shots should be indicated by the addition of a “_1” following the entry number (ex.: Smith1_1.jpg).
